Significant Medical Issues Policy

A new set of resources and policies, to help dojo leaders and members handle significant medical issues, have been published today in the Resources section of the site.   There is a flowchart of procedures; advice to dojo leaders; useful Medical Assessment Information; pro-forma for the member concerned to notify the dojo leader etc.

The policy recognises

  1. That it is the right of the dojo leader to refuse dojo membership to anyone if the dojo leader considers the medical risks to be unacceptable.
  2. That the student is responsible for deciding whether to ask to practice the discipline; for seeking suitable medical advice in the circumstances and for reporting that advice to the dojo leader.
