Common Injuries 1: Calf Strain
This week we launch the first of what is intended to be a series of articles on common injuries exerienced by kendo, iai and jodo practitioners. The first one, on Calf Strain can be found here.Â
The articles are written by Narendra Arjan, who as well as being a BSc (Hons) Ost Med, DO, ND, PGDip Animal Osteopathy – is more importantly the BKA’s Kendo Squad Osteopath. Narendra also runs his own own clinic - more information at  http://www.pegasusclinics.com.
The articles will describe each type of injury, examine what causes it, how it feels if it happens to you, what sort of first aid treatment you should and should not apply, whether there may be any long term effects and of course, what you should do to avoid it happening in the first place.
These articles are a guide and of course you should see a doctor or other suitably qualified person if you do injure yourself. The better the treatment, the quicker you can return to practice!
We will post the features in the Articles section of this site.Â
Next month: Achilles tendonitis
