Dojo Representatives Committee (DRC) Meetings & Election of Chairs

The Iaido and Jodo DRC meetings will be held on Monday 10 August 2009 at the Summer Seminar in Brighton, straight after practice finishes for the day.

The Kendo DRC meeting will be held on 18 October 2009 at the Mumeishi Grading, being held across the road from the dojo at the BA Concorde club, during lunchtime.

As we are setting up the DRCs and electing Chairs for the first time the following will apply to the election of Chairs for this year only:

  • Dojo Representatives (DRs) may be seconded and nominated by any BKA member from the same Bu.
  • Nominations will be accepted prior to the meeting (send to the NC Secretary) and also from the floor of the meeting.
  • Candidates for Chair may send an election statement to the NC Secretary for posting on the BKA website (the statement must be no longer than one page of A4, minimum print margins of 1.8cm and at least 12 point font).
  • If a DR cannot attend the scheduled meeting they may nominate another BKA member from the same Bu to vote for them, providing they have given prior notification to the NC Secretary of the substitution and this has been acknowledged by the NC Secretary.
  • The quorum for the meeting may be varied at the discretion of the NC Member nominated to oversee the election process.

Following their election, the Kendo, Iaido and Jodo DRC Chairs will also become voting members of the BKA’s National Committee.

Best wishes

Debbie Bevan
